Candidates must treat the date, shift and reporting time mentioned on their individual admit cards as final. They should report early because identity verification, biometric checks and security procedures may be completed before entry to the examination hall.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • For the Flying Branch, candidates generally need at least 50% marks each in Mathematics and Physics at the Class 12 level and a three-year graduation degree with a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates holding a BE or BTech degree with the prescribed aggregate marks may also be eligible for the Flying Branch, subject to the detailed notification.
  • For Ground Duty Technical Branches, applicants must have studied Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level and possess an eligible engineering or technology degree in the relevant discipline.
  • For Ground Duty Non-Technical Branches, the required qualification varies by department and may include graduation, postgraduate study, finance qualifications or other specified professional credentials.
  • Candidates awaiting final results must satisfy the conditions concerning backlogs, result declaration and proof of qualification mentioned in the official notification.

Age Limit

  • Flying Branch: Usually 20 to 24 years on the cut-off date prescribed by the Indian Air Force.
  • Ground Duty Branches: Usually 20 to 26 years on the relevant cut-off date.
  • Candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence may receive upper-age relaxation for the Flying Branch under applicable rules.
  • The date of birth accepted by the Indian Air Force must match the candidate's matriculation or secondary school certificate.

Fees

  • The AFCAT examination fee is generally Rs. 550 plus applicable GST for AFCAT entry candidates.
  • Candidates applying through NCC Special Entry are ordinarily exempt from the AFCAT examination fee.
  • Fees, once paid, are generally non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another examination cycle.

Selection Process

  1. AFCAT Online Examination: Eligible candidates take the computer-based test at the examination centre and shift allotted on the admit card.
  2. Air Force Selection Board Testing: Shortlisted candidates attend AFSB testing, which includes screening, psychological tests, group tasks and a personal interview. Flying Branch candidates may also have to qualify in the Computerised Pilot Selection System.
  3. Medical Examination and Final Merit: Recommended candidates undergo medical examination. Final selection is based on merit, medical fitness, branch preference and the availability of vacancies.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official AFCAT portal at afcat.cdac.in and open the candidate login section.
  2. During an active recruitment cycle, complete registration using a valid email address and mobile number. Applications for the present AFCAT 2 cycle are already closed.
  3. Fill in personal, academic, communication and branch-preference details carefully, upload the required documents and pay the applicable examination fee.
  4. To obtain the hall ticket, log in with the registered email ID and password and select the AFCAT 2 Admit Card 2026 download option.
  5. Verify the candidate's name, photograph, signature, roll number, examination date, shift, reporting time and centre address.
  6. Download the PDF and print at least two clear copies. If any detail is incorrect or the admit card is unavailable despite a successful application, contact the AFCAT helpdesk immediately.
  7. Carry the printed admit card, an accepted original photo identity document and any additional items listed in the examination instructions. Electronic devices and prohibited material should not be taken to the test centre.
