Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility will be determined under the conditions given in the original APSC Assistant Engineer advertisement. The rescheduling of the screening test does not alter a candidate’s educational, age or fee-related eligibility.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in the relevant engineering discipline from a recognised university or institution.
  • The engineering branch must correspond to the discipline mentioned for the advertised Assistant Engineer post, such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or another notified branch.
  • Candidates must have acquired the required qualification by the cut-off date specified in the original advertisement.
  • Degrees obtained through institutions or programmes not recognised by the competent authority may be rejected during document verification.
  • Candidates awaiting final results should check whether provisional eligibility was permitted under the original recruitment rules.

Age Limit

  • The minimum and maximum age will be calculated with reference to the cut-off date mentioned in the original APSC advertisement.
  • Upper-age relaxation may apply to SC, ST, OBC/MOBC, persons with benchmark disabilities and other eligible categories under Assam government rules.
  • Date of birth recorded in the matriculation or equivalent certificate will ordinarily be used for age verification.
  • Candidates should consult the original notification before claiming any age relaxation.

Fees

  • The rescheduling notice does not announce any new application or examination fee.
  • Fees already paid during the original online application process remain subject to the recruitment conditions.
  • Candidates should not make payments through unofficial links, messages or third-party portals.
  • Category-wise application, processing or tax charges, if applicable, must be checked in the original advertisement.

Selection Process

The recruitment process is expected to proceed through the stages prescribed in the original notification:

  1. Screening Test: Eligible candidates appear for an objective-type examination used to shortlist applicants. The revised schedule applies to this stage.
  2. Written Examination and/or Interview: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a further written assessment or interview, depending on the notified selection method.
  3. Document Verification and Final Merit: Educational certificates, category documents, age proof and other records are verified before the final selection list is prepared.

Candidates must note that appearance in the screening test does not by itself guarantee selection or appointment.

How to Apply

The rescheduling notice is primarily for candidates who have already submitted their applications. It should not be treated as an invitation for fresh applications unless APSC separately reopens the portal.

  1. Visit the APSC website at apsc.nic.in and open the notices or latest updates section.
  2. Find the notification relating to the rescheduling of the Assistant Engineer Screening Test 2026.
  3. Download the PDF and verify the post name, advertisement number, revised date, examination shift and reporting time.
  4. Check whether APSC has issued a fresh admit card. If required, open the online recruitment portal and log in using the registered email address, application number or password.
  5. Download and print the updated admit card. Confirm that the candidate’s name, roll number, test centre and photograph are correct.
  6. Keep a valid photo identity document and any other item specified in the examination instructions ready for the test day.
  7. Reach the centre before the reporting deadline. Entry after gate closure may not be permitted.
  8. Preserve the application form, fee receipt, admit card and rescheduling notice until the recruitment process is completed.
