Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Class XII) or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • A valid JEE Main 2026 score is mandatory for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs participating under CSAB.
  • For admission to state-quota seats, candidates must meet the domicile/state eligibility norms as specified by the participating institute.

Age Limit

  • No upper age limit is prescribed for CSAB seat allocation under JEE Main 2026 norms, except as specified by individual institutes.
  • Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2001 (relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/PwD candidates) for general engineering programs, in line with JEE Main guidelines.

Fees

  • CSAB counselling / processing fee: ₹1,500 for General/OBC/EWS candidates.
  • CSAB counselling / processing fee: ₹750 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  • The fee is non-refundable except for candidates who are not allotted a seat — refunds are processed per CSAB norms.

Selection Process

  1. JEE Main 2026 Register – Candidates must first qualify in JEE Main 2026 (Paper 1) and secure a valid All India Rank (AIR) to be eligible for CSAB counselling.
  2. Online Choice Filling & Locking – Eligible candidates log in at csab.nic.in, fill their preferred institute–course combinations, and lock choices by August 5, 2026. Unlocked choices will not be considered.
  3. Seat Allotment & Reporting – Based on rank, choices, and seat availability, CSAB releases the Round 1 allotment on August 6, 2026, followed by document verification and fee payment at the reporting centre to freeze the seat.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official portal csab.nic.in and click on the "Mock Seat Allotment Result 2026" link on the homepage.
  2. Log in using your JEE Main 2026 application number, roll number, and password/date of birth.
  3. Review the mock allotment carefully — this is a draft to help you gauge your chances, not the final seat. Note that mock results are tentative and may not reflect the actual Round 1 outcome.
  4. Edit or reorder your choices if needed — add higher-preferred options or remove under-utilised ones to improve your Round 1 chances.
  5. Lock your final choices on or before August 5, 2026 (11:59 PM). Once locked, no further changes are permitted.
  6. Download and print the choice-filled summary for reference. Keep the payment receipt and original certificates ready for document verification after the Round 1 allotment on August 6.

Pro Tip: Use the mock allotment as a strategic guide. If your mock allotment shows a better option than your earlier preferred choices, you can still modify preferences — but always lock before the deadline to stay in the process.

FAQs

1. Is the CSAB Mock Seat Allotment the final allotment?

No. The mock allotment released on July 31 is an indicative preview only, designed to help candidates understand their likelihood of getting a seat. The actual seat allocation happens in Round 1 on August 6, 2026, and later rounds.

2. What happens if I forget to lock my choices before August 5?

Your choices must be explicitly locked by the deadline. If you fail to lock, your saved preferences will not carry forward to the allotment process, and you may be excluded from Round 1. It is strongly recommended to lock well before the deadline to avoid last-minute server issues.

3. Can I change my choices after locking them?

No. Once locked, your choices are final and binding for the current round. However, candidates who are not satisfied with their Round 1 allotment can participate in subsequent rounds (Round 2 and onwards), where they may get an opportunity to revise preferences based on the CSAB schedule.
