Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must hold a relevant BE/BTech, ME/MTech, MSc or equivalent degree in the discipline specified against the JRF vacancy.
  • The recruitment covers seven scientific or engineering disciplines connected with naval physical, electronics, oceanographic and allied research activities.
  • Applicants with a BE/BTech or postgraduate science qualification may be required to possess a valid GATE, UGC-NET or CSIR-NET score, depending on the discipline and conditions stated in the notification.
  • Candidates must have obtained the prescribed minimum marks from a recognised university or institution.

Age Limit

  • The upper age limit for a Junior Research Fellow is generally 28 years as on the relevant cut-off date.
  • A relaxation of up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates is normally applicable under Central Government rules.

Salary & Benefits

Selected candidates will receive a Junior Research Fellowship stipend of approximately ₹37,000 per month, along with House Rent Allowance (HRA) as admissible under applicable DRDO rules. The fellowship is temporary and project-based and does not create a right to permanent employment in DRDO.

The tenure, extension conditions and possible upgradation from JRF to Senior Research Fellow will be governed by performance, project requirements and prevailing rules. Fellows may gain experience in advanced defence research, laboratory systems, data analysis and specialised naval technologies.
