- Candidates possessing eligible professional qualifications or degrees obtained outside India must satisfy the equivalence requirements specified in the official GATE 2027 brochure.
- The choice of GATE paper should be made after checking the syllabus, academic background and admission requirements of the intended institution.
Age Limit
- There is generally no age limit for appearing in GATE.
- No category-wise upper-age relaxation is required because an upper-age restriction does not apply.
- Candidates must still meet the separate age or eligibility rules prescribed by any PSU, university or recruiting organization using GATE scores.
Fees
- The GATE 2027 application fee will be announced with the detailed registration notification.
- Fees may vary by candidate category, gender and whether the application is submitted during the regular or extended period.

Selection Process
GATE itself is a qualifying examination and does not guarantee admission or employment. The broad process is:
- Computer-Based Test: Candidates appear for the selected GATE paper at the allotted examination centre.
- Evaluation and Result: Responses are assessed under the prescribed marking scheme, and normalized scores may be used for papers conducted in multiple sessions.
- Admission or Recruitment: Qualified candidates separately apply for postgraduate admissions, scholarships or PSU recruitment based on the requirements of the participating organization.
GATE 2027 is expected to be a three-hour, 100-mark examination with 65 questions. General Aptitude usually carries 15 marks, while the remaining 85 marks cover the selected subject, including Engineering Mathematics where applicable. Multiple-choice questions generally attract negative marking of one-third mark for an incorrect one-mark answer and two-thirds mark for an incorrect two-mark answer. Multiple-select and numerical-answer questions ordinarily do not carry negative marks.
How to Apply
