Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
The qualification requirements differ according to the HTET level selected by the candidate:
- Level 1 (PRT): Senior Secondary or Class 12 with the prescribed minimum marks, along with a recognised Diploma in Elementary Education, Bachelor of Elementary Education or another equivalent teacher-training qualification.
- Level 2 (TGT): Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject combination with B.Ed, Diploma in Elementary Education or an equivalent qualification prescribed for trained graduate teachers.
- Level 3 (PGT): Postgraduate degree in the relevant subject with B.Ed or another recognised teacher-education qualification, subject to the conditions stated in the HTET information bulletin.
- Candidates must also satisfy applicable subject combinations, minimum marks and teacher-training recognition requirements.
- Appearing in or qualifying HTET does not automatically guarantee appointment. Candidates must separately fulfil the eligibility rules of the recruiting authority.
Age Limit
- HTET is an eligibility examination and generally does not prescribe a separate upper age limit merely for appearing in the test.
- Age requirements for PRT, TGT or PGT recruitment will be determined by the department or recruiting body advertising the vacancies.
- Reservation and age-relaxation benefits will apply only under the relevant recruitment rules.
Fees
- Haryana SC and differently-abled candidates generally pay Rs 500 for one level, Rs 900 for two levels and Rs 1,200 for all three levels.
- Other candidates generally pay Rs 1,000 for one level, Rs 1,800 for two levels and Rs 2,400 for all three levels.
- Candidates should verify the applicable category-wise fee from the relevant examination bulletin, as the final fee is determined by BSEH.
Selection Process
- Written Examination: Candidates appear for the selected HTET level. The paper generally contains 150 multiple-choice questions, carrying one mark each.
- Answer Key Evaluation: Responses are checked against the final answer key issued after examination of objections. There is generally no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- Result and Qualification: The final score is calculated from the accepted answers. Candidates meeting the prescribed qualifying marks are declared HTET qualified and receive eligibility certification as per the applicable rules.
The standard qualifying requirement is generally 60% or 90 marks out of 150 for most candidates. Haryana Scheduled Caste and differently-abled candidates generally need 55% or 82 marks out of 150. Candidates must check the official result notice for the final category-wise criteria.
