Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed Class 10 or Secondary School Examination from a recognised school education board.
  • The Class 10 qualification should include passing marks in Mathematics and English.
  • Applicants must have studied the prescribed local language of the postal circle concerned, generally up to at least Class 10 level.
  • Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use a smartphone or digital device are expected for the performance of GDS duties.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of cycling. Knowledge of riding a scooter or motorcycle may be treated as knowledge of cycling where permitted under the applicable rules.
  • Applicants must meet any additional eligibility conditions stated in the circle-wise notification.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Maximum age: 40 years.
  • The crucial date for calculating age will be specified in the detailed notification.
  • Upper-age relaxation is generally available to SC, ST, OBC, Persons with Disabilities and other eligible categories under Central Government rules.
  • Candidates seeking relaxation must produce valid category certificates during document verification.

Fees

  • Application fee: Rs. 100 for candidates required to pay under the recruitment rules.
