Educational Qualification
- Category I — Lower Primary Classes: Candidates should generally have passed Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination with the prescribed marks and completed a two-year Trained Teachers' Certificate, Diploma in Elementary Education or another approved elementary teacher-training programme.
- Candidates with the required marks in Higher Secondary and a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or an approved special education diploma may also be eligible for Category I, subject to the notification conditions.
- Category II — Upper Primary Classes: Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree along with an approved Diploma in Elementary Education, Teachers' Training Certificate or Bachelor of Education qualification. Integrated B.El.Ed, BA-B.Ed or BSc-B.Ed qualifications may also be accepted.
- Category III — High School Classes: A bachelor's degree in the relevant subject with the required percentage and a B.Ed degree in the concerned subject is generally required. Approved integrated or equivalent teacher-education qualifications may also be considered.
- Category IV — Language and Specialist Teachers: Candidates must possess the qualification prescribed for language teachers, physical education teachers or specialist teachers under the applicable Kerala education rules.
