Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • The candidate must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English, as applicable under NEET UG rules.
  • The candidate must have qualified NEET UG 2026 and participated in MCC counselling.
  • Only candidates covered by the Round 1 or Round 2 resignation notice can use the facility.
  • Candidates should check whether their status is shown as float, freeze, joined, upgraded or allotted before initiating withdrawal.
  • Eligibility to resign may differ for candidates retaining a Round 1 seat and those receiving a fresh or upgraded Round 2 allotment.

Age Limit

  • There is no separate age limit for submitting a seat resignation request.
  • The age conditions prescribed in the NEET UG 2026 information bulletin and applicable medical education regulations will continue to apply.
  • Candidates must satisfy the minimum age requirement applicable for admission to undergraduate medical courses.

Fees

  • No separate online application fee is generally charged merely for submitting a resignation request.
  • Security deposit forfeiture may apply, particularly where a candidate exits after a fresh or upgraded Round 2 allotment or after joining, subject to the official notice.
  • Candidates eligible for free exit or resignation without forfeiture will be governed by the conditions stated for their counselling round.
  • Admission fees already paid to an institute may be refunded after permissible deductions under MCC, institutional and regulatory rules.

Selection Process

  1. NEET UG qualification and registration: Candidates must qualify the entrance examination and complete MCC counselling registration.
  2. Choice filling and seat allotment: Seats are allotted on the basis of rank, category, available choices and the applicable seat matrix.
  3. Reporting, retention or resignation: The candidate may join and retain the seat, opt for upgradation where permitted, or resign within the authorised window under the applicable forfeiture rules.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official MCC website at mcc.nic.in and open the UG Medical Counselling section.
  2. Click the NEET UG 2026 candidate login link and enter the registered credentials, security pin and other requested details.
  3. Review the current allotment carefully, including the counselling round, course, college, joining status and float or freeze option.
  4. If an online resignation option is available on the dashboard, select it and read the declaration before confirming the request.
  5. Candidates whose resignation must be processed by the allotted institute should contact and report to the college within the notified period. The college must generate the resignation through the official counselling system.
  6. Ensure that an online-generated resignation letter is issued. A handwritten letter, email or request submitted outside the prescribed system may not be treated as a valid resignation.
  7. Download the resignation acknowledgement and retain copies of the allotment letter, fee receipt and all communications.
  8. Check the dashboard again to confirm that the seat status has been updated. Candidates should also verify whether their security deposit is refundable or liable to forfeiture.

Float candidates seeking upgradation must understand that surrendering the existing seat may remove their claim over it. Freeze candidates should not assume that simply failing to report amounts to formal withdrawal; they must complete the notified resignation procedure.
