Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed Class 10 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.
- Applicants possessing an ITI certificate from an institution recognised by NCVT or SCVT may also be eligible for relevant Level 1 posts.
- A National Apprenticeship Certificate, where accepted under the detailed notification, may also satisfy the qualification requirement.
- The prescribed qualification must have been obtained by the eligibility cut-off date mentioned in CEN 09/2025.
Age Limit
- The general age range is expected to be 18 to 33 years, calculated on the cut-off date specified in the notification.
- Upper-age relaxation applies to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under Central Government rules.
- Candidates must produce valid supporting certificates during document verification to claim relaxation.
Fees
- General/OBC/EWS: ₹500, with the applicable refundable portion returned after appearing in the CBT.
- SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-servicemen/Female/Transgender/Minority/Economically Backward Class: ₹250, refundable subject to appearing in the CBT.
- Bank or payment gateway charges may be deducted from the refundable amount.
Selection Process
- Computer-Based Test: Candidates will answer objective questions covering mathematics, general intelligence and reasoning, general science, and general awareness/current affairs. Negative marking may apply as stated in the notification.
- Physical Efficiency Test: Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CBT performance must meet the prescribed running and weight-carrying standards. Standards vary by category and gender.
- Document Verification and Medical Examination: PET-qualified candidates will undergo certificate verification and a railway medical fitness test before final appointment.

Salary & Benefits
Selected candidates will be appointed to Level 1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix, with an initial basic pay of ₹18,000 per month. The total monthly remuneration may also include dearness allowance, house rent allowance, transport allowance and other railway benefits, depending on the place of posting and applicable rules.
