Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must possess the relevant three-year engineering diploma, BE, BTech or other prescribed technical qualification from a recognised institution.
  • The required engineering branch or discipline depends on the JE category and railway department selected in the application.
  • Applicants for any allied technical posts must meet the post-specific qualification stated in CEN 04/2026.
  • Candidates awaiting final results must satisfy the qualification conditions by the prescribed eligibility cut-off date.

Age Limit

  • The standard age range for RRB JE recruitment is generally 18 to 33 years, subject to the cut-off date in the detailed notification.
  • Upper-age relaxation is normally available to reserved categories under Central Government rules.
  • Typical relaxation includes five years for SC/ST, three years for OBC-NCL, and applicable relaxation for PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible groups.
  • Date-of-birth and category details must match the certificates presented during document verification.

Fees

  • The standard examination fee is generally Rs. 500 for candidates not covered by a concessional category.
  • A concessional fee of Rs. 250 generally applies to SC, ST, PwBD, women, transgender candidates, ex-servicemen, minorities and eligible economically backward-class candidates.
  • Refund rules, bank deductions and category conditions will be governed by CEN 04/2026. Candidates should rely on the detailed notification for the final fee provisions.

Selection Process

  1. First-Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 1): A screening examination covering mathematics, reasoning, general awareness and general science.
  2. Second-Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 2): Shortlisted candidates take a more detailed test that includes technical and general subjects prescribed for the post.
  3. Document Verification and Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying CBT 2 must produce original certificates and meet the railway medical standards applicable to the selected post.

How to Apply

The application window has already closed, and the current facility is intended for checking application status. Registered candidates can view their status by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official RRB application portal at rrbapply.gov.in.
  2. Open the candidate login or application-status section for CEN 04/2026.
  3. Enter the registered credentials, such as the registration number and password or date of birth, as requested.
  4. Complete any captcha or one-time-password verification displayed on the portal.
  5. Review the status shown on the dashboard. Provisionally accepted means the application has cleared initial scrutiny, while conditionally accepted indicates that acceptance remains subject to specified conditions or verification.
  6. If the form is rejected, read the reason displayed in the login carefully. Rejection may relate to photographs, signatures, eligibility details, duplicate forms or other discrepancies.
  7. Download or save a screenshot of the status page for future reference. Candidates requiring clarification should use the helpdesk or contact option available on the official portal and quote their registration number.

Acceptance at this stage does not guarantee final eligibility. The RRB may verify educational, category, identity and other records at subsequent stages and cancel candidature if information is found to be incorrect.
