Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should possess a Diploma or Degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a recognised university or institution.
- Eligible disciplines may include Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science and other branches specified for individual Junior Engineer posts.
- Candidates must have obtained the required qualification by the eligibility cut-off date mentioned in CEN 04/2026.
- Applicants awaiting their final qualifying results as of the prescribed cut-off date are generally not eligible unless specifically permitted in the detailed notification.
Age Limit
- The minimum age requirement is generally 18 years.
- The applicable upper age limit, age-calculation date and any one-time relaxation must be checked in CEN 04/2026.

Selection Process
The RRB JE recruitment process is expected to include the following stages:
- First-Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 1): A screening examination covering Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science.
- Second-Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 2): Shortlisted candidates appear for a more detailed examination that includes technical subjects relevant to the selected engineering discipline.
- Document Verification and Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying in CBT 2 are called for verification of original documents and assessment of medical fitness for the post.
Final appointment will depend on merit, vacancy availability, document verification, medical fitness and satisfaction of all eligibility conditions.
