Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Educational requirements are post-specific and range from Class 12 to graduation, postgraduate study or a relevant professional qualification.
- Candidates applying for clerical or similar ministerial posts must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination, along with any prescribed typing or skill requirement.
- Translator, law, teaching and welfare-related posts may require a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, law qualification, teaching credential or diploma in the relevant discipline.
- Applicants must possess the required qualification by the eligibility cut-off date stated in CEN 08/2025.
- Final eligibility will be verified through original certificates during document verification.
Age Limit
- The minimum and maximum age limits vary according to the post and applicable pay level.
- Candidates must satisfy the age requirement on the date specified in the detailed notification.
- Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under central government rules.
- Date-of-birth and category claims must be supported by valid documents during verification.
Fees
- General and other non-concessional candidates: ₹500.
- SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen, female, transgender, minority and economically backward class candidates: ₹250.
- The applicable portion of the examination fee is refundable after appearing in the CBT, subject to RRB conditions and deduction of bank charges.
- Online payment charges, where applicable, are borne by the candidate.
Selection Process
- Computer-Based Test: Candidates are assessed through an objective examination. RRBs prepare zone-wise, post-wise and category-wise cut-offs after normalisation, wherever multiple shifts are held.
- Post-Specific Test: Shortlisted applicants may be called for a typing skill test, translation test, performance test or teaching skill test, depending on the post applied for.
- Document Verification and Medical Examination: Candidates clearing all applicable stages must produce original documents and meet the prescribed railway medical standards before appointment.
The published cut-off is the last shortlisted candidate’s marks for a particular combination of RRB zone, post and category. It may therefore differ for UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS and PwBD candidates. Merely securing the minimum qualifying marks does not guarantee shortlisting, as the actual cut-off depends on vacancies, attendance, examination difficulty and candidate performance.
