Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institution.
  • Applicants awaiting their final qualifying result by the prescribed eligibility date may not be eligible unless specifically permitted under CEN 03/2026.
  • Degrees obtained through distance or open learning must be recognised by the competent regulatory authority.
  • Candidates should consult the detailed notification for requirements relating to equivalence, document format and the qualification cut-off date.

Age Limit

  • The category-wise minimum and maximum age limits will be confirmed in the detailed CEN 03/2026 notification.
  • The relevant date for calculating age will be specified by the RRBs.
  • Relaxation in the upper age limit is expected to apply to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under Central Government rules.
  • Date of birth entered in the application should match the candidate’s matriculation or Class 10 certificate.

Fees

  • The category-wise recruitment application fee will be announced in the detailed notification.
  • A separate objection fee may be charged for each question challenged against the provisional answer key.
  • Applicable bank or online transaction charges may be added to the objection amount.
  • If the RRBs accept a challenge, the objection fee may be refunded under the conditions stated in the answer key notice.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Test: Candidates must qualify in the online examination covering the subjects and syllabus prescribed by the RRBs.
  2. Aptitude/Qualifying Stage: Shortlisted candidates may be required to appear for an aptitude or skill-based assessment applicable to the Section Controller post.
  3. Document Verification and Medical Examination: Final-stage candidates must produce original certificates and satisfy the prescribed railway medical fitness standards.

The final answer key will be prepared after subject experts examine all valid objections. The examination result will normally be based on the revised final key, and no further challenge is generally accepted after its publication.
