Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • For Technician Grade III, candidates are generally required to have passed Class 10/Matriculation and possess an ITI certificate or completed Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade from a recognised institution.
  • For Technician Grade I Signal, the requirement generally includes a relevant BSc degree, diploma or engineering qualification in specified disciplines.
  • The trade- and post-specific qualification must match the conditions prescribed in the detailed CEN 02/2026 notification.
  • Candidates awaiting final qualification results by the eligibility cut-off date may not be eligible unless expressly permitted in the notification.

Age Limit

  • The post-wise minimum age is generally 18 years.
  • The upper age limit is expected to vary between Technician Grade I Signal and Technician Grade III.
  • Relaxation in the upper age limit will apply to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under government rules.
  • The exact age cut-off date and post-wise limits should be checked in the official notification.

Fees

  • The examination fee must be paid online using the payment methods available on the application portal.
  • Fee concessions are normally provided to SC, ST, PwBD, women, ex-servicemen, transgender, minority and economically backward class candidates, subject to the notification.
  • RRBs may refund a prescribed portion of the fee to candidates who appear in the CBT, after deducting applicable bank charges.
  • Candidates must verify the exact category-wise fee and refund conditions in CEN 02/2026.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Test: Eligible applicants must appear for the CBT covering Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness and post-relevant subjects.
  2. Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted on CBT merit will be required to produce original educational, category, identity and other supporting certificates.
  3. Medical Examination: Final appointment will depend on satisfying the railway medical standard prescribed for the selected Technician post.

The provisional answer key is subject to review. If an objection is accepted, the corrected final key will be used for evaluating responses and preparing the result.

How to Apply

  1. Visit rrbapply.gov.in or the official website of the regional RRB selected during registration.
  2. Open the link titled CEN 02/2026 Technician Answer Key, Response Sheet and Objection Tracker.
  3. Log in with the registration number and password or date of birth, as requested on the portal.
  4. Download the candidate response sheet and provisional answer key. Compare the recorded answers with the question IDs carefully.
  5. Calculate the tentative raw score using the notified marking scheme. Where one mark is awarded for a correct answer and one-third mark is deducted for a wrong answer, use: Correct answers × 1 – Incorrect answers × 1/3. Unattempted questions normally carry no marks.
  6. To challenge an answer, select the relevant question ID, choose the proposed option and upload a concise supporting reference where required.
  7. Pay the prescribed objection fee online for each challenged question. The fee may be refunded for objections found valid, subject to RRB rules.
  8. Submit the challenge before the deadline and retain the confirmation page, payment receipt and downloaded response sheet for future reference.

Candidates should avoid relying on recalled questions or unofficial answer keys. The response recorded in the official login and the final key approved by the RRB will determine the evaluated score.
