Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
The required qualification differs according to the Technician post applied for:
- Technician Grade I Signal: Candidates must possess an applicable Bachelor of Science degree, engineering diploma or engineering degree in disciplines such as Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology or Instrumentation, as prescribed in CEN 02/2026.
- Technician Grade III: Applicants must have passed Class 10/Matriculation and hold an ITI certificate from an NCVT- or SCVT-recognised institution in the relevant trade.
- Candidates possessing a Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the applicable trade may also be eligible for designated Grade III categories.
- The prescribed qualification must have been obtained by the eligibility cut-off date stated in the detailed notification.
Age Limit
- For Technician Grade I Signal, the general age range is 18 to 33 years.
- For Technician Grade III, the general age range is 18 to 30 years.
- The crucial date for determining age will be the date specified in CEN 02/2026.
- Upper-age relaxation applies to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under central government rules.
Fees
- General/OBC/EWS candidates: ₹500.
- SC/ST/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Ex-servicemen/eligible minority and economically backward candidates: ₹250.
- Candidates appearing in the CBT are eligible for a refund of the prescribed portion of the examination fee after deduction of applicable bank charges.
- Any correction or modification fee must be paid separately where applicable.
Selection Process
The RRB Technician recruitment process comprises the following stages:
- Computer-Based Test: Candidates must appear for the CBT on the date, shift and at the centre specified in the e-call letter.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be required to produce original educational, category and identity documents.
