Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants with professional qualifications recognised as equivalent to graduation may also be eligible, subject to the detailed recruitment rules.
  • Candidates who were in the final year or semester of graduation could apply provisionally if permitted under the recruitment notification, but they must produce proof of passing by the prescribed date.
  • Eligibility is verified through original documents during the later stages of selection. Issue of an admit card does not by itself confirm final eligibility.

Age Limit

  • The standard minimum age for SBI PO recruitment is generally 21 years.
  • The standard upper age limit is generally 30 years, calculated on the cut-off date stated in the detailed notification.
  • Upper-age relaxation is available to eligible SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other notified categories under government and SBI rules.
  • Candidates should check the recruitment PDF for the applicable cut-off date and category-wise relaxation.

Fees

  • General, OBC and EWS candidates: Usually ₹750, inclusive of the application fee and intimation charges.
  • SC, ST and PwBD candidates: Usually exempt from payment.
  • The fee once paid is ordinarily non-refundable. Candidates should verify the exact category-wise amount in the official recruitment notification.

Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Examination: The first stage is an online objective test generally covering English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. Preliminary marks are used to shortlist candidates for the main examination.
  2. Main Examination: Shortlisted candidates take an online examination consisting of objective and descriptive components. The test generally assesses reasoning, data analysis, banking and economy awareness, English language and written communication skills.
  3. Phase III and Final Selection: Candidates qualifying in the mains examination may be called for a psychometric test, group exercise and interview, as applicable. Final merit is prepared using marks from the stages specified by SBI, followed by document verification and other joining formalities.
