Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates applying for LDC, JSA and most DEO posts must have passed the 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognised board or institution.
  • For DEO or DEO Grade A posts in departments where a science background is prescribed, applicants must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
  • The required qualification must be acquired on or before the eligibility cut-off date specified in the detailed notification.
  • Candidates awaiting their Class 12 results may apply only if they can produce proof of passing the examination by the prescribed qualification date.
  • Equivalent qualifications should be supported by a recognised equivalence certificate wherever required during document verification.

Age Limit

  • The minimum age for SSC CHSL 2026 is 18 years.
  • The maximum age is 27 years as on August 1, 2026.
  • Applicants should have been born within the date range that will be specified in the official notification.
  • SC and ST candidates: Five years of upper-age relaxation.
  • OBC candidates: Three years of upper-age relaxation.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: Relaxation of 10 years for the unreserved category, 13 years for OBC and 15 years for SC/ST candidates.
  • Ex-servicemen: Three years after deduction of military service from the actual age, subject to the applicable rules.
  • Additional relaxation may apply to eligible central government civilian employees and other notified categories.
  • Candidates must submit valid certificates in the prescribed format to claim any age relaxation.

Fees

  • The application fee is expected to be Rs 100, subject to confirmation in the detailed SSC CHSL 2026 notification.
  • Women candidates and applicants belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen categories are generally exempt from paying the fee.
  • Payment can be made through the online facilities provided on the SSC application portal.
  • A fee paid after the deadline, or through an unsupported mode, may not be accepted.

Selection Process

  1. Tier I Computer-Based Examination: Candidates will take an objective test covering English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. Marks may be normalised when the examination is conducted in multiple shifts.
  2. Tier II Examination and Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates will appear for Tier II, which includes subject modules and the applicable typing or data-entry speed test. The skill or typing test is qualifying in nature where prescribed.
  3. Document Verification and Final Appointment: Candidates clearing the required stages will undergo document scrutiny by the allotted department. Final selection will depend on merit, post preference, eligibility, category and vacancy availability.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the SSC website at ssc.gov.in and open the login or registration section.
  2. Complete the One-Time Registration process using an active mobile number, email address and the required identity information. Candidates already registered should log in with their existing credentials.
  3. Find the SSC CHSL 2026 application link under the live examinations section and select Apply.
  4. Enter personal, educational and category details carefully. The name and date of birth should match the candidate's Class 10 certificate.
  5. Upload the required photograph, signature and supporting documents in the specified size and format. Follow the portal instructions for live photograph capture, if applicable.
  6. Select examination centres and enter post preferences after reviewing the eligibility conditions for each post.
  7. Pay the application fee, unless exempt, and verify the payment status before final submission.
  8. Submit the form and download the confirmation page. Keep a copy of the application and fee receipt for future reference.

Candidates should use only one valid application and must correct errors during the designated correction window, if provided by SSC.
