Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a degree or diploma in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university, institute or technical board.
  • The required engineering discipline must correspond to the Junior Engineer post and department selected in the application form.
  • For certain departments, diploma holders may also need the prescribed professional experience. Candidates should verify the post-wise conditions in the detailed recruitment notification.
  • Educational qualifications and required experience must have been completed by the eligibility cut-off date specified by SSC.

Age Limit

  • The upper age limit is generally 30 years or 32 years, depending on the participating department and post.
  • Age is calculated with reference to the cut-off date stated in the examination notification.
  • Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates are normally eligible for five years of relaxation in the upper age limit.
  • OBC candidates are generally allowed three years of relaxation. Additional relaxation applies to PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under central government rules.

Fees

  • General, OBC and EWS male candidates: Rs 100.
  • Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen candidates: No application fee.
  • The fee was payable online through the payment options available on the SSC portal.
  • Application fees, once paid, are ordinarily non-refundable.

Selection Process

  1. Paper I: A computer-based objective examination covering General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and the relevant engineering discipline.
  2. Paper II: A second computer-based examination focused on the candidate’s chosen engineering branch—Civil, Electrical or Mechanical.
  3. Final Merit and Document Verification: Final selection is based on performance in the prescribed papers, applicable cut-offs, category, post preference and verification of original documents. Medical or departmental suitability requirements may also apply after allocation.

SSC may prepare separate category-wise and discipline-wise cut-offs. Inclusion in an examination-stage result does not automatically guarantee appointment unless all eligibility and verification requirements are satisfied.
