Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Applicants must have passed the Class 10 or Matriculation examination from a recognized board.
- The required qualification must have been obtained by the eligibility cut-off date specified in the detailed recruitment notification.
- Candidates awaiting their Class 10 result as of the prescribed date are not eligible unless they can provide proof of passing during document verification.
Age Limit
- The general age range for MTS posts is 18 to 25 years.
- For Havaldar and certain notified MTS posts, the age range is generally 18 to 27 years.
- SC and ST candidates receive an upper-age relaxation of five years.
- OBC candidates receive an upper-age relaxation of three years.
- PwBD, eligible ex-servicemen and other reserved groups receive relaxation under Central Government rules.
- The crucial date for calculating age will be the date mentioned in the official notification.
Fees
- The application fee is Rs 100 for candidates required to pay the examination charge.
- Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen candidates are exempt from paying the fee.
- Payment can be completed online through UPI, debit card, credit card or net banking.
- A fee once paid is generally non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against another examination.
Selection Process
- Computer-Based Examination: Candidates appear for an objective online examination covering numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and English language. Marks may be normalized when the test is conducted in multiple shifts.
- Physical Efficiency and Standard Test: Candidates applying for Havaldar posts must qualify in the Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test. This stage is qualifying in nature.
- Document Verification and Final Merit: Educational, category, identity and eligibility documents are verified before final allocation. Selection is based on merit, post preference, qualifying status and available vacancies.
How to Apply
- Visit the SSC website at ssc.gov.in and open the login or registration section.
- Complete the One-Time Registration process using an active mobile number, email address, Aadhaar details or another accepted identity document.
- Log in to the candidate dashboard and select the MTS and Havaldar examination under the active applications section.
- Enter personal, educational, category and communication details carefully. Select post and examination-centre preferences where required.
- Upload the live photograph, signature and supporting documents in the prescribed format and size.
- Pay the examination fee, if applicable, and submit the form before the deadline. Save the confirmation page for future reference.
- To check the final cut-off, open the Results or Latest News section, download the MTS/Havaldar result notice and search the PDF for the relevant category, state, region or roll number.
