Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Master's Degree in the concerned subject from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).
  • B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree is mandatory from a recognized institution.
  • Candidates must have qualified a national-level eligibility test such as UGC-NET / SLET / State Eligibility Test (SET), or hold an M.Phil/Ph.D. as per prevailing norms.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years (as of 01 July 2026)
  • Age relaxation applicable as per UPPSC rules: 5 years for OBC/SC/ST, and additional relaxation for PwD, ex-servicemen, and dependents of freedom fighters.

Application Fees

  • General/OBC/EWS Category: ₹125/-
  • SC/ST Category (Uttar Pradesh domicile): ₹65/-
  • PwD Candidates: ₹25/-
  • Payment accepted via online modes only (Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI).

Selection Process

The selection for GIC Lecturer posts is a three-stage process:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type): A screening test consisting of multiple-choice questions covering general studies and the concerned subject. This test is qualifying in nature; marks are not counted in the final merit.
  2. Mains Examination (Descriptive Type): A written exam comprising subject-specific papers designed to test in-depth knowledge. Marks obtained here contribute to the final merit list.
  3. Document Verification & Interview: Shortlisted candidates undergo verification of educational certificates, age proof, category certificates, and a personal interview round before final appointment.
