Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university or institution.
  • Must have passed the UPSSSC stenographer written examination conducted under the respective advertisement.
  • Proficiency in Hindi shorthand (Ashulekhan) with a minimum speed of 80 words per minute (WPM) is typically required.
  • Proficiency in Hindi typing with a minimum speed of 25 words per minute is generally expected (as per the prescribed standards).

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years (with relaxation for reserved categories as per UP government norms)
  • Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates will be applicable as per government rules.

Fees

  • General/OBC/EWS: ₹185 (including online processing fee)
  • SC/ST: ₹95
  • PwBD: ₹25
  • Note: Application fee for the skill test is generally not required; however, candidates should confirm via the official notification if any fee applies for the re-examination.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination – Candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the written test conducted by UPSSSC.
  2. Skill Test (Hindi Shorthand & Typing) – Candidates who qualify the written exam must appear for the skill test, which will assess their shorthand speed and typing accuracy in Hindi.
  3. Document Verification – Final selection is subject to successful verification of all educational and category certificates.

The skill test is qualifying in nature, and the final merit list will be prepared based on the written examination scores, subject to the candidate clearing the skill test.
