Overview

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has revised the VITEEE 2027 exam pattern for candidates seeking admission to its undergraduate B.Tech programmes. The computer-based examination will now run for 120 minutes instead of 150 minutes and contain 100 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 400 marks.

As VITEEE is an admission examination, no fixed number of vacancies has been announced. Seats will be allotted across participating VIT campuses and programmes through rank-based counselling, subject to availability and eligibility.

Under the revised marking scheme, candidates will receive four marks for every correct answer, while one mark will be deducted for each incorrect response. The expected section-wise format is 40 Mathematics or Biology questions in 50 minutes, 25 Physics questions in 30 minutes, 25 Chemistry questions in 30 minutes, and 10 combined English–Aptitude questions in 10 minutes.

  • Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination in 2027 must produce the required pass certificates and marksheets within the prescribed admission timeline.

Age Limit

  • The date-of-birth requirement for VITEEE 2027 will be specified in the detailed notification.
  • Only the date recorded in the candidate’s Class 10 or equivalent certificate is generally considered for age verification.
  • Applicants should not rely on previous-year age criteria and must confirm the 2027 cut-off date before submitting the form.

Fees

  • The VITEEE 2027 application fee is yet to be announced.
  • Payment is expected to be accepted online through the options provided on the application portal.
  • Application fees are generally non-refundable once the form has been submitted.
  • Candidates should also check programme-wise tuition fees, counselling charges and hostel expenses separately.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Entrance Test: Registered candidates must appear for VITEEE 2027 and complete 100 questions within the revised 120-minute duration. Section-wise time limits will apply.
  2. Rank and Counselling: VIT will prepare entrance ranks based on examination performance. Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in online counselling according to the announced rank ranges.
  3. Seat Allotment and Admission: Seats will be allotted on the basis of rank, programme preference, campus choice, eligibility and availability. Admission will be confirmed after document verification and fee payment.

The revised pattern totals 400 marks: Mathematics or Biology is expected to carry 160 marks, Physics 100 marks, Chemistry 100 marks, and English–Aptitude 40 marks. Candidates should note the negative marking and avoid unsupported guesses.
